We have 3 vacation time options for 2014: July, Thanksgiving week, or Christmas week. Which would you recommend based on crowd levels and temperatures? We will be traveling with 3 adult couples. Thanks!

    Hi Teresa,

A Walt Disney World vacation with three adult couples sounds absolutely fantastic!

July will of course be the hottest of the times that you mention. Average high temperatures in Orlando are in the low 90s Fahrenheit in July. If anyone in your travelling party is sensitive to heat, you should probably not go in July. In November, average high temperatures are in the high 70s Fahrenheit, which is absolutely lovely. In December, average high temperatures are in the low 70s Fahrenheit, which is quite nice but can be a bit cooler than many people expect Florida to be.

I like to visit the website touringplans.com for predictions of crowd levels. July tends to be quite crowded as most school districts are out during July. The week of July fourth will likely be the most crowded as many adults have vacation that week as well, so if you are flexible in July and want to avoid crowds, avoid the fourth of July week. Thanksgiving week will also be quite crowded; however, people may go for less time over Thanksgiving, such as for a four- or five-day weekend. If you are planning for a week, if you arrive the Sunday before Thanksgiving you may enjoy a few days with lower crowds before Thanksgiving, or if you arrive on Thanksgiving and stay until the following Thursday, the end of your vacation may have less crowds. Times around Christmas are easily some of the busiest times of the year at Walt Disney World. The week between Christmas and New Year's is really busy, with parks sometimes closing for capacity.

From your options, I would choose Thanksgiving as the time to go. Walt Disney World is typically decorated for the winter holidays at that time, so you can see the holiday decorations then. Whatever time of year you decide to go, have a magical vacation, Teresa. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
