We are vaca in Disney in July. We are bringing our 9 yo but are discussing not bringing our then 18 month old. But I feel guilty. What are your thoughts? We will return when he is older.

    Hello, Emily!

I brought my youngest to Walt Disney World when he was just 15 months old. Honestly, he was originally just coming along for the ride. I planned on him staying in his stroller and not getting much out of our vacation. I was so very wrong! I was very surprised and pleased to discover that there are numerous rides at Walt Disney World that have no height requirements. My son loved Mickey Mouse when he was a toddler and he was so excited to meet him that he screamed and jumped up and down! Even though he does not remember that moment, I sure do! It is one of my favorite Walt Disney World vacation memories. My little guy had just as much fun as the rest of us did!

We also used the rider switch option when it was available. This allowed us to ride rides with our older child. My husband and older son would wait in line for the ride and I would go with the little one and do something that he would enjoy or we would shop around. Once they were off the ride, I was able to then ride with my older son with a much shorter wait time. Simply speak to a Cast Member at the entrance of the ride and let them know you would like to use the rider switch option.

I see you are going in July. My only concern with your toddler would be the heat. I went back to our hotel during the hottest part of the day to rest, nap, and cool off. I do not like the heat, myself being a Wisconsin girl. I volunteered to be the one to go back with the baby. If you wanted to rest without leaving the Parks, there are also wonderful Baby Care Centers that can be found at each park. This is also a convenient place to cool off and take care of your prince's needs.

    Have a magical day, Emily!

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
