We have a vac. planned for Aug 2011, but want to change it to Dec 2011. My Q is which wk would u choose, the wk b4 Christmas(12/16-12/23) or the wk after (12/26-1/2)? would like to do Mickey's Christmas.Party, but also luv idea of New Years In Disney!

    Michelle:

I don't know how many people I've talked out of going to Disney the week between Christmas and New Year's!  It's typically one of the the busiest weeks at Disney of the year!  If you have a choice, definitely go the week before Christmas. Here's why:
    • Crowds. Longer lines for rides, but also elbow room in the parks not to mention getting reservations for popular restaurants.
    • Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Because of the crowds, the Magic Kingdom can't handle a separate, ticketed event the nearer you get to Christmas. The last Christmas Party usually lands around December 19 or so. You'd definitely have to cross this off your Christmas List if you went the week between Christmas and New Year's.
    • Cost. You'll pay Holiday Rate for your resort room along with a slight surcharge on the Disney Dining Plan and some other meals during that holiday week. Generally, you'll pay the rate that's good on the day of check-in. If you come early, you can shave hundreds of dollars off your week. Just think of all the souvenirs you could place under the tree with the savings!
    • And did I mention crowds?

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
