Father and Child on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

In using the new rider switch program, do all members of our party need to have a fast pass for the attraction in order to use the program or does the waiting party not need one?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Jacquie! I absolutely love Rider Switch Service. We use it as a family on every vacation because our little girl isn’t quite big enough for thrills like Tower of Terror, even though she says she’s ready to tackle it!

You’re spot on with your assumption about FastPass+ and Rider Switch Service. The waiting party will be issued a FastPass+ reservation for the current wait time minus about 10 minutes, so they do not need a reservation. Whomever is in “Party 1” that will ride initially can either use a pre-reserved FastPass+ or use the standby queue while the waiting chaperone and non-riders grab a snack or browse the merchandise locations. I’m usually taking my daughter on a nearby attraction with a low wait time like Prince Charming Regal Carousel or the Mad Tea Party while my son and husband slide down Seven Dwarfs Mine Train! Don’t forget that after your family uses and completes their initial 3 FP+ reservations in a day, you can log onto My Disney Experience or visit a FP+ kiosk to snag another FP+ for another attraction. I was able to use six FP+ reservations on my solo trip to Magic Kingdom last week. I was an attraction riding machine and loving every minute of it!

If I can help you navigate the ins and outs of other family services like Package Pickup, the Baby Care Centers or even Passholder services, please let me know. You’ve got a friend in me! ~ Lindsey P.
