We have been upgraded to AoA from standard room at All Stars. It states on MDE app room type as Family Suite. I just wondered what these rooms are like at AOA and whether we are able to request specific themes (eg Lion King) since we were freely upgraded?

Hi Taylor, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Wow...it sounds like you have already been dusted with an extra-helping of pixie dust before your trip even begins! I have no doubt you will be blown away by the incredible theming at this Resort, as you step into the worlds inhabited by some of your favorite Disney animated characters. I visited here for the first time last month, and the details and theming throughout the entire Resort was so impressive!

As you have been upgraded to a Family Suite at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, your room will likely be located in either the Lion King, Cars, or Finding Nemo themed sections of the Resort. While in most cases upgraded rooms are assigned depending upon Resort availability, there would certainly be no downside to contacting Disney Resort Hotel Reservations to have your preference noted if you wished to stay in a specific area. While Disney may not be able to accommodate your request, in my experience, they will always try their best to do so when possible.
Be sure to leave plenty of pool time during your trip, as you will have access to the largest Disney Resort hotel pool on property - The Big Blue Pool. This zero-entry pool, which was inspired by the movie Finding Nemo, even boasts its own underwater speakers! I am sure your family will also enjoy the wonderful Food Court, Landscape of Flavours which has some of the most varied and diverse offerings on property.

Wishing you a most magical upcoming vacation at Disney's Art of Animation Resort!
