Is it unusual for guests to stay at 2 different resorts during their stay at WDW? We plan on staying at Contemporary when we visit MK and then Port Orleans the rest of the time. Does this make sense?

    Hi Cheryl,

What you're talking about is called a "spilt stay" and it is very common at Walt Disney World. I've done it myself several times. Disney will even transfer your bags for you, so you can spend more time in the parks.

One thing to think about - There are complications with a split stay if you're thinking of buying the Disney Dining Plan. Plan credits do not carry over from one part of your stay to the other, so you'll need to make sure you use them in the allotted amount of time. Also, getting the Dining Plan during both halves of a split stay may make ticket purchasing more complicated.

For a detailed discussion of this topic, you may want to head over to the independent website blog.touringplans.com. Search there for an article called, "Staying at Two Disney World Resorts in One Trip: Planning a Split Stay."

Please let us know if you have any follow up questions. We'd love to help!
