I understand that in the past there has been trick or treating at Downtown Disney on Halloween night. Will that be the case this year? We are arriving Halloween afternoon and would love for the kids to get some trick or treating in.

    Hi there Julie,

The Walt Disney World Resort sounds like the PERFECT place to spend a spooky Halloween.  The decorations will all be in place along with all of those delicious seasonal snacks and treats!  It is one of my favorite times to visit!

I remember trick or treating at Downtown Disney several years ago, but unfortunately, this was discontinued back in 2011.  It's probably because the Trick or Treat Trails at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party have been expanded in recent years and this event really is the "go to" when it comes to collecting candy on Halloween.

Just in case Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is not in the cards for you this year, here's an insider tip:  On Halloween, Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground celebrates the spooktacular holiday with a golf cart parade and trick-or-treating at select campsites!  This is a safe and fun get together that is not advertised, so it's definitely an 'off the beaten path" experience you may want to check out.  Not to mention the fact that many of the campsites will be decked out with over-the-top decorations, lights, and so much more.

For complete details, you can contact Fort Wilderness directly, closer to Halloween and when you arrive, the front gate will have a map of the festivities as well as those sites participating. To get to Ft. Wilderness, Take Disney Bus transportation for the parks to Ft. Wilderness Campgrounds.  Another option is to take the resort boat from Magic Kingdom to Wilderness Lodge.  If you are driving you will need to park your car at the entrance and walk.

    Hope this helps,
