What type of identification do you need in the parks, if you do not want to carry around your passports? Are drivers license's from other countries acceptable as long as there is a photo? Thank you in advance.

Hello Lisa, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with a great question.

I can only think of a couple of reasons as to why you would need photo identification when visiting a Disney Theme Park. If you are a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder, you would need to show photo ID along with your passholder card in order to receive discounts that are available to annual passholders. Pretty much any photo ID with your name on it will be acceptable for dining and merchandise purchases.

If you plan on enjoying some adult beverages at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen at the Magic Kingdom or the Nomad Lounge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you will be asked to provide a photo ID to verify your age. I did some research and spoke with a Cast Member, while a passport is preferred for international guests. You can use your government-issued identification as long as it has your photo and your date of birth on it. I was assured that any guest ordering alcoholic beverages will be required to prove they are over the age of 21 in order to consume them. If your Canadian driver’s license or ID card contains that information, you will be able to use it as verification. I hope that helps to answer your question. If it did not, please come back and visit us again.

    See ya real soon,
