    Brandie from IN Asked

I have two teenage sons, 18 and 16. We are staying off site for the week as we plan to break up trip up and hit the ocean. I'm unsure of all what to do at MK? Our travel dates are 7/2 thru 7/9.

    Hello, Brandie,

Thank you for sending your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  On our next trip, would you believe I'll be traveling with two of our sons, ages 19 and 16?  With that in mind, I turned to them for some insight on what is a priority for them at the Magic Kingdom. The first thing they said is the Mountains:  Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain. For them, the big thrill rides are their priority.  In fact, those are often what I try to get FastPass+ passes for.

When we begin our days at the Magic Kingdom, we try to start in Fantasyland right when the park opens (I'd avoid an Extra Magic Morning since you are staying off-site).  In fact, you may want to try and go directly to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as it is incredibly popular. You should be able to walk on or have limited waits on the other nearby attractions.  From there, you can then wander through the other lands making sure to visit the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. I'd also make sure to include the Festival of Fantasy Parade and Wishes Nighttime Spectacular.

If you'd really like a more specific plan to walk you through the must-sees and the best order to visit them to avoid long waits, the independent website Touringplans.com has detailed itineraries available for a nominal fee. I can vouch from experience how well they work.

Wishing you a magical trip!  If you have any further questions, please let us know.  We are happy to help. -Kara
