I have two boys ages 12 and 16. We were planning to stay at Ft. Wilderness in our travel trailer from oct 31-nov7th. Now that the dining plan is free, it is actually cheaper to stay at a resort. Coronado Springs or Ft. Wilderness in a travel trailer?

    Hi Allen!

The free dining promotion is, indeed, a wonderful offer.  It's great that you are able to take advantage of it and have an opportunity to stay at one of Disney's amazing resorts.  I have stayed at both Coronado Springs and the cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort, and loved both.

Coronado Springs is a Southwest-themed property, set around a huge lake.  The rooms have been recently refurbished and are lovely, with super-soft bedding, dark wood furniture and wonderful amenities.  The Mayan Pyramid Dig-Site features a great pool that your kids will likely love.  Maya Grill (Latin table service) and Pepper Market (quick service) are great restaurants that offer a huge variety of options for your entire family.

The cabins at Fort Wilderness offer a family a bit of extra space, and include a separate bedroom and living room as well as a fully equipped kitchen.  Each cabin also has a private deck with BBQ.  The kitchen makes having a few meals in your room a snap, and will enable you to save on concessions in the parks.  Fort Wilderness is a huge resort with many activities and entertainment options, including two of Disney's dinner shows, Mickey's Backyard BBQ and the Hoop De Doo Revue.  Both are a great choice to end a Disney day!  The Fort also offers fishing, carriage rides, bike rentals and a host of other options.  Magic Kingdom is a boat ride away, and the Electric Water Pageant can be seen from the beach of the resort.

If I had to pick, I'd vote for the cabins for your two boys.  I think the combination of "roughing it" Disney-style in a campground, the wonderful entertainment options and activities and proximity to the Magic Kingdom make it a great choice!  Whichever you select, have a wonderful vacation!
