If there are two adults and one child but the child does not want to ride a ride, can the first adult ride and upon her return the second adult ride?

Hi there, Mary! Thanks so much for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Walt Disney World Resort has devised a handy system called Rider Switch, and it's perfect for families with young children. Let's talk about how it works!

If you have a Mouseketeer in your family that either is too short to ride, or reluctant to ride, but you still want to experience the attraction, then utilizing the Rider Switch system will allow the adults in your party to take turns waiting without having to queue up in the Standby line twice. There are several rides at each Park that have a Rider Switch option. For a complete list, visit the Rider Switch page on the Walt Disney World website.

When you're ready to use Rider Switch, head over to the attraction's entrance with your entire group and let the Cast Member know you'd like to switch off. The Cast Member will issue you a Rider Switch entitlement (which will appear in your My Disney Experience account with a return time) and they will show you to a designated waiting area with your non-riding child; you are known as "Party 2". The rest of your group is "Party 1," and they will ride the attraction using the Standby queue while you wait. When they return, you can board the attraction using the FastPass+ queue (make sure to check your My Disney Experience app for your return time), and your child will switch over to Party 1. Combining FastPass+ with Rider Switch is always an option, too! Just make sure that everyone who plans to ride the attraction has a Fast Pass+ reservation, as Cast Members will scan you MagicBands or tickets before you enter the queue.

I hope this helps, Mary! We love helping Guests with their vacations, so feel free to stop by again if you have any other questions!

Hi, I'm Eean from Pennsylvania!  I may have an unusual name, but my passion for Disney is not unique.  It’s amazing how many people you can find who love talking about, "The Most Magical Place On Earth!"  I'm that mom who always has her ears perked at PTO meetings, in the grocery store aisle, or at middle school basketball games waiting for an opportunity to give someone a planning tip to help make their vacation even more magical.
