Tween boy- afraid to fly, and that is how we are getting to WDW 1st trip. Any tips for calming fears or activities that are good distractions? The trip is a surprise- he will learn about it 6 hours before we depart so not a lot of to freak out. Thanks!

Your first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort...How exciting!  Let's hope that he'll be SO excited to go to Disney World, that all that fear will go away.   Just in case that it doesn't,  let's get you prepared!

Like most tween boys, I'm sure yours likes technology?  How about downloading a great movie or purchasing a new video game to distract him on the flight?  Without knowing his interests, I can't be sure what he is interested in.  My son loves a great book so we always go to the bookstore before a trip.  He gets so engrossed.    Whatever interests him, pursue that.  I am also not a huge fan of flying, but it's a necessity.  I have found that distraction is the best remedy.

Bring his favorite snacks or treats onboard.  That will also help.  Is there a treat you wouldn't normally get? Spoil him on the plane.   Reassure him that he couldn't get to the Happiest Place on Earth without taking the flight.  Focus and talk about all the exciting adventures you are sure to have at Walt Disney World.

Bring a travel game,  A good match of UNO always is a good distraction.

I hope these ideas help, Kirsten.

I wish you a truly MAGICAL vacation, and an easy flight!
