I am trying to plan a family vacation for 2015 and want to make sure we travel when the Christmas Decorations are out. We have normally traveled during the first few weeks of Dec. but would like to know if you think the crowds might be better in Nov.

    Felicia:

Typically, you'll start seeing Christmas decorations start popping up at Disney around the beginning of November. The large Christmas trees that greet you in the parks seem to be some of the first signs followed by the decor at the resorts. By the first Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom around the the parks are mostly decorated. Our family has actually been to Disney for Halloween and seen the resorts and parks transition from their fall decor to Christmas trees and wreaths within our vacation week.

The beginning of November still sees some thick crowds, especially on the weekend due to the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot while families out on fall break make the first week of November busy. The full week before Thanksgiving Week and the week after Thanksgiving Week would be my recommendations to visit to see both Christmas decorations but also to avoid the early-November crowds and Thanksgiving crowds. But if those weeks don't work with your schedule, my visits the first two weeks of December over the years have also seen manageable crowds, too.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
