We are trying to get an idea of overall cost for our first trip. What is the best way to do that? Is it cheaper to get a package through Disney, or purchase separately?

Hello, Amy!  Welcome to the Moms Panel!

I have always been a big fan of purchasing a complete package through Walt Disney World.  They offer some terrific deals throughout the year.  A great starting point would be to call Disney directly at (407)939-7675.  Prior to your call, you may want to decide if you are wanting to add the Disney Dining Plan (DDP) or the Park Hopper Option to your tickets.  They will put your package together, including your resort of choice and any other options you are wanting to add.  At that point, they will give you a price.  Don't be afraid to have them pull-up different options to compare numbers.  For example, a package with the DDP and without.  You are under no obligation to purchase anything at the time you make your call.  Please keep in mind, that if you book your reservation and Disney comes out with a great deal, you may call them back and see if they can apply the savings to your current reservation.  They have always been willing to apply the savings in the past.

Another great way to search for savings is through www.mousesavers.com or www.allears.net.  These web sites are very good about alerting guests of new discounts that WDW has released.

Your local AAA office offers WDW tickets at a discount.  Please keep in mind that if you are wanting to take advantage of the Disney Dining Plan, you will need to stay at a Disney Resort and have purchased at least a one day ticket from Disney in order to participate in the DDP.

Keep checking the SPECIALS OFFERS page for some great deals.
