we are trying to decide if we want to spend the extra money to stay at a hotel on the monorail. We have a 5 and 6 year old at time of travel. we like the option of coming back to our hotel room to rest before dinner and nighttime activities.

Hi Jessica! Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I think you are very wise to consider the location when choosing a Walt Disney World Resort! Being able to easily travel back to your resort for afternoon naps/breaks via the monorail is one of the biggest advantages to staying at a Magic Kingdom Resort. I have personally stayed at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Polynesian Resort, and Disney's Contemporary Resort in the past and loved all three! Another advantage to staying at one of the Magic Kingdom Resorts is having so many dining options at your fingertips! If you are anticipating that you will spend most of your time at Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot, then I do believe you will find this resort area to be a perfect fit for you.If you think you will primarily be visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot during your trip, then you may consider staying at one of the Epcot Resorts which include Disney's BoardWalk Inn, Disney's Beach Club Resort, and Disney's Yacht Club Resort. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels are also located in the Epcot Resort area, but are not owned or operated by Disney. One of the benefits to the Epcot Resort Area is being able to easily walk to Epcot through the International Gateway (back entrance.) You can travel to Disney's Hollywood Studios via the Friendship Ferry (water taxi) or walking path.I highly recommend afternoon breaks with young children. I have found that we are able to enjoy the nighttime activities more when we have left the parks midday and either taken a nap or a dip in the pool before reentering the park in the early evening. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the resorts mentioned above. I also believe it is worth the additional cost to stay in a central location. I hope this helps in making your decision. Please don't hesitate to write me back if you have any questions regarding a Walt DIsney World Resort or your upcoming trip. Best wishes for a magical trip!
    Happy Planning,
