Hi! I am trying to decide between the Riverside resort or Pop Century. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi, Lacy!

My family has stayed at both Disney's Pop Century Resort and Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. They are both amazing hotels, and it is difficult for me to recommend one or the other without knowing your family's size and ages of children. I can share with you my personal pros and cons of each so you can make the best decision that fits your family's needs.

Disney's Pop Century Resort will always feel like home to me, as it is the first Walt Disney World Resort my family stayed at during our very first Walt Disney World Resort vacation. It's larger than life decor sets a playful atmosphere.  This is a very large hotel, so I recommend a preferred room close to the food court, main lobby, shops, and transportation. This hotel only has one bus stop, so if using Disney transportation it is nice to not have additional stops at the hotel. The food court at Disney’s Pop Century Resort is also my favorite out of all the Walt Disney World Resort hotels. There is a large variety of foods to choose from and everything is delicious! The beds here are only full sized, so if you have older children the sleeping arrangements may be a bit tight.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is absolutely breathtaking with beautiful southern theming. The main pool at this resort has a water slide, which my boys really enjoy. This hotel is also large and spread out. The preferred rooms here are still closer to the food court, main lobby, shops, and transportation than the standard rooms but still seemed far away to my tired feet. This resort does have multiple bus stops and the buses also sometimes stop at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. The rooms are larger than Disney's Pop Century Resort and also have queen sized beds. Our preferred room in the Alligator Bayou also had a small Murphy bed in addition to the two queen sized beds. My 7-year-old really enjoyed his own little bed.

    Have a magical day, Lacy!

Meet the Panelist: Rachel, Wisconsin

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
