Trying to decide between January 2009 (3rd or 4th week) or May 2009 (1st full week). Which would be better for low crowds and good weather to swim. We love to take a break each day to swim. But we are very concerned about crowds. What would you choose?

Hi Michele - Let me start by saying that if you are looking for both reasonable crowds and good weather for swimming, May would be the better of your two options.

While I notice you are from the lovely state of Michigan and probably are a bit more comfortable with colder weather than me, January is about the coldest time of year here in Florida.   While certain pools may be heated, the weather outside may make it uncomfortable for swimming.   That said, January is also about one of the best times to travel from a crowd perspective.  You will find minimal wait times no matter which park you visit.

I happen to have visited two or three years ago in early May and found the crowds to be reasonable.  While larger than January, I did not recall the wait times being terribly long.   Of course, the weather was nice and warm at that time.   We even visited a Water Park that week.   Hope this helps.
