Trying to decide between going to disney world the last week of Jan or first week of March, just want a few opinions if we go in Jan our kids would only miss 3 days of school vs 5 in March

    Hi Ashley,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am happy to greet a fellow North Carolinian and help with the school dilemma!

Before our girls started "big" school, we took them to the Walt Disney World Resort in May. Now that they are in school with more homework, we only visit when they are out of school. For me, I just do not want anyone worrying about making up schoolwork while on vacation. I have gone in March and December also, closer to the times you are considering. My only other concern for January might be that it may be too chilly to get in the pool.

Know, however, that I am a former high school teacher, so my opinion leans towards not letting kids miss too much school. On the other hand, our girls always have classmates miss school to visit the Walt Disney World Resort or to go on a Disney cruise for an entire week. Clearly, each family makes the decision that is best for them!

My last bit of advice is just to be sure to consider your timeline. Since resort guests can make dining reservations 180 days in advance for their entire trip up to 10 days, we always book at least 180 days prior to our vacation. Then I am online on day 180 making dining reservations because some character meals get booked quickly!

Ashley, I am sending pixie dust your way trusting that you will visit at the perfect time for your family.

    Magic, memories, Minnie Mouse hugs,
    Donyell
