    April from WI Asked

Trying to decide between coming Jan. 31st-Feb 7th or April 18th-April 25th. Could you please help us with the pro and cons of these dates?

    Hi April,

Great question. I absolutely love visiting Walt Disney World in the late Spring. I took a glance at when Easter falls in 2015, and it's quite early (Apr. 5th). Typically, spring breaks will occur earlier than your proposed dates. So in terms of crowds, February will be lightest, however I don't believe you'll have too large of crowds in late April, either.

Next factor is weather. Do you like milder temps? Given we're both from the Midwest, I'm guessing you might like to enjoy the hot weather. Average highs in February are only 74 degrees, while April has an average high of 83 degrees. If you're looking to take advantage of pool time or perhaps the water parks, I'd lean towards April.

Two more factors to consider ... events and refurbishments. Epcot's Flower & Garden Festival will likely take place in April. It's one of my favorite events throughout the year. They've even begun adding food/drink booths to the festival, much like the Food & Wine festival later in the year. The topiaries, presentations, and beautiful photo backdrops are really something to consider. The other reason I avoid January/February trips is I notice Disney will refurbish more attractions and shows during this time frame, due to lower crowds. There's no guarantee all attractions will be running in April either, but it seems more are down during the early part of the year.

Were my insights helpful, April? I hope so and please feel free to visit me again with follow up questions.

    Best wishes,
    Sherri
