We are trying to decide between the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Polynesian resort. We have two boys 5 and 8. We have never taken them to WDW before and we haven't been there since we were kids. I really don't even know where to begin!

You've narrowed down your choices to two great resorts that are both amazing, but they do have some differences that may help you decide which is best for your family.

The Polynesian Resort has rooms that are 415 square feet and is comprised of 11 buildings and 1 main area that houses restaurants, shopping, and the monorail. The separate buildings often make it quieter, but it can be a longer walk especially if it rains. There are two pools, but no spa/jacuzzi. One of the pools does have views of Cinderella's Castle and the fireworks. If you plan on visiting the Magic Kingdom often, it is short monorail or boat ride to the park. Similarly, it is easy to walk to the Ticket and Transportation Center to catch the monorail to Epcot.  There is character dining for breakfast at the resort and easy monorail access to other dining with the nearby Magic Kingdom resorts. The Animal Kingdom Lodge has rooms that are 344 square feet and is comprised of a single building. There is a single pool, but it is quite large. There are also two spas/jacuzzis and a playground. It also offers the unique experience of having views of animals on the savannah from some rooms or the lookouts throughout the resort. I also find the theming of the resort to be a one-of-a-kind experience with the inspiration from Africa. It is a short ride to the Animal Kingdom and longer rides to the other three theme parks; all transportation from the resort is by bus. Both resorts have two table service restaurants and a counter service restaurant.  On-site childcare centers and arcades are also at both.

Overall, they are both great choices!  Please let us know if we can help with any further questions.
