I am trying to choose between staying at the Swan and the Pop Century,My friends are visiting from New Zealand and their kids are 8 , 10 and 14. Due to some discounts, both resorts will be the same price..which would be best for these age groups?

If it were me (my kids are 14, 11, 9, and 2.5), I'd opt for a stay at the Swan.  My reasoning behind that choice is simple: location!

The Swan is within walking distance to not only the fabulously fun Boardwalk Resort area, but also to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.  It's a great perk to be able to stroll over to the Boardwalk area for dining or for a plethora of nighttime entertainment options.  You'll also have easy access to the restaurants at Disney's Yacht Club and the Beach Club.  Not to mention the many tasty options that can be found in Epcot's World Showcase.

Considering that there isn't a price difference, I think you'd be getting better value for your vacation dollar by opting for a stay at the Swan.  And the kids in your party would surely have a great time spending a few evenings at the Boardwalk (be sure to stop by Seashore Sweets!).  Have a great time!
