I have a trip planned for the last week of Sept. Do you recommend making use of the EMH or to avoid them? I know it is suppose to be a slow time. Any advice would help. Also, what do you think of the MNSSHP for a 4 and 6 year old. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Carlene,

Let me answer your second question first. I'm a huge fan of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I love the special parade, the trick-or-treating, and the fun costumes on the characters. That being said, I know that my own kids could not have truly enjoyed the party when they were kindergarten age and younger. The party itself starts at 7:00 p.m. At age 4 and 6, my kids were in bed at around 8:00 p.m. We might have been able to stretch it to an hour later, but much past that and we'd pay for it with some serious crankies the next day. The party is pretty expensive to just spend an hour or so there. However, your kids might have better stamina than mine or have a different temperament. If you think they can handle being up late enough to get your money's worth, then I say go for it.

I just double checked the TouringPlans.com Crowd Calendar for you. The last week of September really is estimated to be one of the lowest crowd weeks of the year. Yay you!

There are two circumstances where morning Extra Magic Hours really works. First, if you can really be there at the start of EMH, then you can usually get in several easy hours of park touring before any crowds arrive. You can then feel good about taking a break in the afternoon and coming back for dinner/fireworks later. Second, if you have a Park Hopper ticket, you can go to EMH and then simply switch to a less crowded park if lots of other guests show up.

Frankly, I wouldn't worry too much about any of that though. You're going at such a low crowd time that you're likely never to experience a big EMH rush. In general, arrive at the parks as early in the morning as you can, and the rest will take care of itself.

    Have a great time!
