I have a trip to orlando Disney world planned for Oct 27th thru 30th. Orlando weather is showing thunderstorms for those dates. What is done in the event of bad weather

    Hi Shonda ~

Your trip is literally around the corner and I know you're too excited to sleep! I've grown up going to Central Florida and Disney World several times a year. During the summer and fall months, there is usually a chance of thunderstorms a lot of days. While I'm no meteorologist (nor do I play one on TV), it seems like the storms typically pass quickly unless there is some sort of tropical depression coming through. Check the hour-by-hour forecast before heading out for the day.

As they say in showbiz, the show must go on and it does at Walt Disney World as well. There are times that outdoor performances and activities will be delayed or cancelled in the event of inclement weather but it is business as usual for all indoor attractions. Here is how I prepare for a potentially rainy day in the theme parks:

    * Pack your ponchos and umbrellas. You can purchase these in the parks but they are cheaper if you buy them in advance. I always buy the cheap ones that fold up really small and keep one in my backpack as an emergency poncho. I use one on Splash Mountain and Kali River Rapids - yes, yes - I am one of those people. These take up less room in my bag and I don't feel bad about tossing them after the rain stops.
    * Take a hat or visor to wear under your ponchos. That helps keep the hood out of your face but in place over your head.
    * If you decide to wear sneakers into the parks, carry a pair of flip-flops just in case your feet get soaked.
    * Carry a plastic bag to put your wet ponchos and umbrellas in when you're not using them so they don't drip all over you.
    * Take a light sweater to wear indoors in case you get cool from being damp in the rain.
