1st trip to DW planned for Feb 2019. Does a Water park count as a theme park? For example, if I buy the base ticket, can I go to magic kingdom in the morning and then a water park in the afternoon? Is the weather nice enough to swim in Feb?

    Hi Stephanie,

How exciting to be planning your very first Walt Disney World Resort vacation! You are going to have an absolutely amazing time. My fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelists and I are here to help you plan the perfect trip!

Deciding on which Theme Park Tickets to purchase is an important step in planning. Disney's base tickets allow access to one of the four main theme parks per day. This includes Disney's Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, and Disney's Hollywood Studios. The water parks are not included on the base tickets, so you would be able to visit either Typhoon Lagoon Water Park or Blizzard Beach Water Park on the same day that you visit Magic Kingdom Park. However, you would need to purchase water park tickets in order to access either of these fun options. You will want to note that generally in the winter, one of the water parks is closed for refurbishment, so you'll need to double check the park hours as you get closer to the date.

In response to your question as to whether or not it is warm enough to swim in February, that depends entirely upon the weather. I'm a hardy New Englander like you, and I absolutely loved swimming at Walt Disney World this past February. I took the chance to escape the brutal cold for a "Girls Only" trip with my daughters for their winter break. It was 80 degrees every day. We rented a convertible and relaxed poolside several times. It was magically therapeutic. However, there have been years that we've gone in February that I've needed to purchase sweatshirts for everyone, so it really does depend on Mother Nature.

    Wishing you magical memories,

    Kaylene
