Our trip to Disney World is coming up and between FastPass and Dining reservations, our schedule is pretty full! However, we are wondering what happens if it rains or storms - is there somewhere that lists attractions that close when weather hits?

    Hello, Alex!

It sounds like you are ready for a magical vacation! I have experienced my share of afternoon rain showers and even significant thunderstorms during visits to Walt Disney World Resort. Most attractions are operational during rain, but there are times when an attraction must close for the safety and wellbeing of both Guests and Cast Members. The same goes for entertainment such as parades, shows and fireworks.

Last May, fellow Moms Panelist Jackie P. and I braved the rain during an afternoon visit to the Magic Kingdom. Even though the rain was coming down pretty hard, we were able to ride a few attractions before a severe thunderstorm moved into the area. Right as we were ready to board Seven Drawfs Mine Train, lightning was spotted in the area. The coaster closed for a brief time while the cell passed over and reopened once the all clear was given.

My suggestion is to pack extra socks and a few disposable ponchos so you can enjoy every magical second of your vacation! If a ride does need to close, Cast Members will make every effort to reopen it as soon as it is safe. Most of all enjoy making magical memories with your family! Please visit us again should you have other questions!
