With our 4th trip to Disney coming up in Nov I was wondering if you had advice for a 7 yo with SPD. The Magic Kingdom has been the most difficult park in the past as there seems to be no "quiet" areas...music everywhere!! Any advice for us and m

Hi Ami!  Welcome to the Moms Panel.  You are so right - Magic Kingdom can be challenging for finding quiet zones.  There always seems to be music playing or some other stimulating things happening, so I applaud you for planning ahead of time.  I am happy to tell you that there are definitely some areas where you could escape to for some quiet time with your son:  The lobby/waiting area in the Hall of Presidents attraction is air-conditioned, and has benches for resting.  Tom Sawyer's island is a perfect quiet-zone.  Just take the raft over, and then you can either just walk around, or there are even seating areas with rocking chairs that are the perfect place for down-time.  The upstairs dining area at Columbia Harbor House is also a great place to stop in for a drink or just to sit - there are usually very few people up there and no music.  The Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant is also a great place - the restaurant part is usually only open during peak season - but the seating area is always open and there are restrooms as well.  Finally, there is a walkway between Tomorrowland and Storybook Circus that many people are unaware of...it meanders along, with pretty scenery, and is usually a nice quiet respite from the crowds.

Ami, I truly hope that you and your family will have an amazing memory-filled vacation at Walt Disney World and that everything goes smoothly.  Do consider getting a Guest Assistance Card from Guest Relations, which can minimize the waiting time for your son at many of the attractions.  You will just need to stop in at any of the 4 theme parks and explain your needs and they will issue you a pass that addresses those needs. It can be very helpful to children with sensory issues, and no Dr. note is required.

Please let me know if I can help you with any other questions you may have.  It would be my pleasure to help you plan a magical Walt Disney World vacation for your family!
