Trip April 2012. Son 8 & daughter turning 5 at time of trip. Where 2 stay? Coronado with queen beds to make daddy happy OR French quarter, smaller resort to hopefully cut down on spring break crowds and quicker/less crowded bus transportation to par

    Hi Amy,

How great that you will be able to celebrate your Princess' birthday at Disney World.

Our family has stayed at Coronado Springs and Port Orleans many times, and they are both fantastic resorts. Coronado Springs is a Convention location for DIsney World so it is a larger property and does offer additional amenities, like a spa and fitness center, not found at other moderate locations. The rooms have been recently remodeled and feel a little more spacious to me than the Port Orleans property, Due to it's larger size, there may be additional guests here than Port Orleans, however Disney does a great job of coordinating their transportation needs to meet the crowd expectancy of the parks and resorts. This means that typically resorts with higher occupancy will run additional buses to meet the demand.

Personally my kids prefer the pool area and the Dig SIte play area at Coronado Springs over the pool at Port Orleans and my husband and I prefer the room size and the food court options at Coronado, If your only concern is transportation due to crowds, I would certainly go with Coronado Springs as you will most likely find similar wait times at both resorts given that popular travel time.

    Good luck with your decision!
