we are travelling to Disney the weekend before & the week of Thanksgiving. Our 13 year old son is completely into Star Wars, robotics, building & creating & creating animations. Would there be any events or things that you think we should do

    Hi Debbie!

Thanks for visiting us here on the Moms Panel. When I read how you described your Imagineer-in-training, I knew I had to answer this for you. My 9 year old boy has the exact same interests. We always say he's more likely to build Space Mountain than to ride it!

For your 13 year old, I would suggest focusing on 2 Walt Disney World theme parks: Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Within Epcot, your son would really enjoy Innoventions East and Innoventions West Pavilions in Future World. There are interesting exhibits in each, and your son will very much enjoy the learning aspect of it all. For example, our son enjoyed creating his own thrill ride at The Sum of All Thrills exhibit in Innoventions East. If your son likes to experience a thrill ride that he creates himself, be sure to choose a FastPass+ selection for Test Track. You're able to build your own custom concept vehicle, and see first hand how it performs on the test track circuit.

Within Hollywood Studios, pay a visit to Star Tours -- The Adventures Continue. Since there are over 50 story combinations within the motion-simulated attraction, you may be able to experience a new adventure each time you ride! You'll also want to check out The Magic of Disney Animation. This experience offers a hands-on class with a Disney Artist that will teach you how to draw your very own Disney Character sketch. Here's a tip: Ask the Disney Artist if you can have their sketch once the session is over. Your 13 year old will be able to have a free souvenir from a real Disney artist!

I hope this helps you with your planning, Debbie. Have a magical holiday vacation and we hope to see ya real soon!
