Hi! We are travelling over from Australia to visit WDW next summer. I am torn btw staying at POFQ (budget)The Cabins at FW (room space) Proximity to pools is a major thing for us. Can we walk to the pool at POFQ? Bus at FW? Is everything a bus at FW?

    Hi Michelle!

How exciting that you will be traveling to the US from Australia for a magical Walt Disney World vacation. It is great you are planning now as soon you will be making your dining reservations at 180 days out and then your FastPass reservations at 60 days.

Choosing a resort definitely depends on budget and interest. The Fort Wilderness Cabins are one of my own family's favorite choice. They do offer more room, a fully equipped kitchen and a peaceful setting where you are surrounded by pine trees, deer and native turkey. The cabin loops do have a small pool among them but the larger pool is more located centrally among the camping loops. You could walk on sidewalks or take an internal bus to reach the main pool. To head to the parks you would need to catch the internal bus to the main bus area and transfer there. It is actually quite easy and they run constantly. To head to the Magic Kingdom you would need to head in the opposite direction and get an internal bus to take you to the Pioneer Hall are where you will find the marina. The boats run similar to the bus schedule (about every 15-20 minutes) and it drops you off directly in front of the entrance.

The Port Orleans French Quarter Resort is more like your typical hotel. Rooms are standard with most having two queen beds. You will be within easy walking distance to the resort pools. They have five leisure pools and their big 'Ol Man Island fun pool. If pools are your main interest then this resort will offer more to choose from then the Fort Wilderness Resort.

Both are great options but as I said it really depends on what you want your vacation experience to include.
