We will be traveling with a 4 and 5 year old and want a room with a kitchen. do you recommend Deluxe Villas or Cabins at Fort Wildwrness

    Hi Mary Eileen,

I love this question! My family and I are Disney Vacation Club members and therefore spend most of our vacation time at the Disney Vacation Club resorts in one-bedroom villas. We also absolutely love the cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort - they are our first choice when we are not staying at a Disney Vacation Club resort.

Both of these options, a cabin or a one-bedroom villa, will give you a full kitchen. There are a couple of differences in the other amenities in these accommodations. At the cabin, you will have an outdoor grill, which we really enjoy using to cook out. In a one-bedroom villa, you will have a washer and dryer right in the villa. The cabins have one bathroom. Depending on which resort you choose, the one-bedroom villas may have either one or two bathrooms.

At the cabins, the sleeping arrangements are a double bed and bunk beds in the bedroom, with a pull-down double bed in the living room. Your kids might really enjoy the bunk beds; however, you might want to consider how the adults in the party feel about double beds. In a one-bedroom villa, there is typically a king-size bed in the bedroom and a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living area. Again, you might want to consider these sleeping arrangements, including if your children will be happy sharing a bed. Some of the one-bedroom villas also have a sleeper chair, which provides another sleeping surface.

Finally, consider the theme of the resorts. This is really important! We love the laid-back feel at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground, as well as the many activities there. You might find one of the Disney Vacation Club resorts to have a more appealing theme for your family, such as the modern luxury of Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Mary Eileen. Have a wonderful time planning your vacation, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
