Hi! We will be traveling the 1st week of March with our 3 yr old boy and 11 month old girl. Any advice/recommendations on how to plan our trip, what to see/do for that age? The focus is more on the 3YO as the 11MO won't remember! Thanks!

    Hi Amanda!

My wife and I have a 3-year-old little girl who's been to Walt Disney World as an infant, toddler, and now a preschooler.  Plus, we brought our 6-month-old son for his first visit just a couple of months ago.  So, I've been in your shoes!

I can think of three tips that will hopefully help guide your plans.

Tip #1: Plan for naps back at your hotel each afternoon.  Giving your children a chance to recharge their batteries in the comfort of your hotel room will pay huge dividends!

Tip #2: Plan for plenty of snack and water breaks.  You can bring your own snacks into the park, but there are also a lot of healthy snacks available for sale in the theme parks.

Tip #3: Go with the flow.  Something random may catch your son's (or even your daughter's) attention while you're en route to your next destination.  It may be a parade, street performers, or even something as simple as a family of ducks waddling through the park.  If you keep your schedule fairly loose, you won't feel the pressure of having to abandon that experience (which may cause a meltdown).

Bonus Tip: Take a ton of pictures!  I often sit down with my daughter and flip through our vacation pictures so we can talk about the memories we made and the ones we want to make in the future.  Take them along the way as you travel to Walt Disney World, at your hotel, at the restaurants, and definitely around the theme parks.

For our past Disney vacations, we had a reasonable list of "must-do's" that allowed for plenty of room to savor the time we had with our children.  We obviously love the attractions, but the spontaneous experiences turned out to be some of the most amazing parts of our vacation.

I hope that helps and I hope you have an amazing vacation with your family!
