    Amanda Asked

We are traveling to WDW the week of Decemeber 8th and staying at POP with DH,18mo and 5yr. girls and thinking of not doing parks on day 1. Any suggestions for DD with young children?

Hi Amanda! Downtown Disney is a great suggestion for a day that you choose not to do parks. I also suggest if you have some time that you visit some of the resorts to see their holiday displays. My favorite include the Grand Floridian's life size gingerbread house and the Beach Club's chocolate carrousel.

Downtown Disney has many things to enjoy beyond the great shopping. There is a small train for the kids to enjoy and of course Santa will be making his appearance during that month.  There is a stage where many choirs and musical groups perform and on certain nights there will be a dance party for the family. As you travel further toward the other end you can enjoy the great balloon called Characters in Flight. If weather is good you can purchase tickets to take your family up above the trees to see the best possible view of the entire Disney World property. During the evening hours you can find many great street entertainers along the way.

The AMC theater will have movies that include some Fork and Screen options where you can order your lunch and dinner right from your comfy seats but your little one might not be able to sit still for that long. Instead I suggest you try Splitsville which is the new bowling facility where you can order your food while bowling. A young child would at least enjoy the atmosphere and watching the rest of the family bowl. They have light weight bowling balls for the younger family members. Last but certainly not least is Disney Quest which is a multi floored facility full of games and activities.

For dining I suggest either the Rainforest Cafe or T-rex where the inside of the restaurants come alive while you eat.
