HI! We will be traveling to WDW in February '12 with our 5 year old son and 13 month old daughter. We are considering the Fantasmic dining option, but are concerned that the show might be too intense for a one year old. Any input?

Hi, Richard!  I know this is going to be kind of a non-answer to your question, but it really and truly depends on the personality of the baby.  I've got three daughters, and I know that at least one of them would have rather had teeth pulled than sit through Fantasmic!  She was very sensitive when she was younger to loud noises, and even standing quite a distance from the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom, she still flinched and became quite nervous.

My other two daughters were much better with the noise.  When they were very small - like your daughter's age - I would hold them quite closely and try to talk to them quietly in their ears during the loud parts of the Fantasmic! show.  As they got a little older, they may still have put their hands over their ears, but they wanted to stay and watch the show.  With the other daughter, though, nothing I did could keep her calm.

So, in a very round about way, you have to gauge for yourself how your tiny princess is with things like fireworks at home, fire trucks, dogs barking - other loud noises she might be exposed to.  That should help you to decide.  There are definitely loud and somewhat scary to little children parts of this show, but it is awesome!

Thanks so much for the question, and I hope your vacation is wonderful!
