Hi, We will be traveling to WDW on December 7th for a one week stay with a 6 month old. I'm just wondering if you have any suggestions on traveling as light as possible. Do you suggest renting a car to avoid wait times for transportation? Thanks!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel John!

December is such a wonderful month to visit the parks! They are just beautiful at that time of the year and there is something extra magical in the air!

I've been traveling to Disney with boys my since they were born so I've been through the adventure you're about to go on.

We're one of those families that likes to see and do it all so we're all over the place when we visit Disney. They do a nice job of providing transportation on property for Guests but unless I am staying in one of the of resorts along the monorail line, I always rent a car if I fly down. When you have kids that are tired or that you're trying to keep on some sort of a schedule, waiting on a bus is no fun. You also have to fold your strollers on the buses. You still may want to take a bus to the Magic Kingdom since you have to park, take the tram to the Transportation and Ticket Center and then take the Ferry Boat or Monorail to the Magic Kingdom. That's quite a journey. Renting a car would also allow you to stop by a store and pick up diapers, wipes, etc. and you wouldn't have to pack them. You could also pick up water or other things and save money by purchasing them before you arrive on property.

If you don't rent a car, you can ship a box to your resort with diapers, wipes, etc. so that you don't have to pack them in your luggage. Let me know if you need info on how to do that. Only bring a few small favorite toys to keep your little one entertained. Make sure you have his/her favorite items he/she will need to fall asleep. There are laundry facilities at the resorts so don't overpack clothes. If you bottle feed, only bring a couple and a small amount of detergent to wash them.

I'm limited in space for answers but happy to offer more suggestions if you'd like to visit again. Its a pleasure to assist you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
