I will be traveling to WDW with my daughter just shy of her first birthday. I plan on taking her for her first haircut while we are there, but can you suggest any good mother/daughter activities to celebrate her first birthday?

    Hi Jillian,

What a sweet occasion!  I remember the days when my babies were little; they are 18 and 15 now.  We still celebrate all of our special events at Walt Disney World and I don't think that will ever change.

Since your little princess is so young, my advice to you would be to focus on getting photographs with every character you can find.  Use those PhotoPass photographers and think about purchasing a Memory Maker photo package.  It would be really cool if you booked a character meal with the princesses!

The reason that I recommend this is because I took my son to Disney for the first time when he was 3 months old.  Of course, he can't remember that trip, but we both treasure the many times that we've looked through that album.  I tell him the story behind each picture; you smiled at Mickey, you cried with Goofy, and you dirtied your diaper LOUDLY while being held by Peter Pan!  I found that you can actually make memories through your photographs and stories.  He feels as if he actually remembers being there with me even though he knows that's not possible.

Enjoy your Queen/Princess trip.  If you have any other questions please come back and ask.  These times go so quickly...enjoy every second of it!

Magic Kingdom still takes my breath away, but my favorite place to be is on a Disney ship looking at the horizon and breathing in that crisp, clean ocean air!  I love planning Disney vacations for others and making sure it's more than they dreamed. Learn More About Marisol
