Traveling for the 1st time to WDW with our 2 boys who will be 4 and 2. We are looking to stay in a mod. $ hotel and hope to see the fireworks at night from our room is that possible? Also should we get a meal plan? How many days would you suggest to stay?

    Hi Elizabeth,

I think your boys will love the Walt Disney World Resorts. My daughters were the same age the first time we took them and now they have been over 15 times!

Unfortunately, you will not be able to see fireworks at night from your room at a moderate resort. One of the criteria for deciding the level of resort is based on location to a park. The deluxe resorts are next to a park. Moderate are the second tier and then the value are usually the furthest from a park. This makes it hard to see the fireworks from a moderate's location.

I would recommend at least five or six days to tour the parks. However, if you want to go back for swimming or naps, you should add another day or two. Of course, the longer you stay the cheaper your per day park ticket becomes. There are often deals on length of stay packages which may help you make a decision on how long. Also, you can save by not purchasing a park hopper option. Since it will take you longer to tour, you can just focus on one park a day.

If you really want to experience fireworks from your room, consider upgrading to a deluxe and drop a day or two off your trip. You will save transportation time to the parks because you could walk or take a boat or monorail back and forth between the parks and your room. This is quicker than the bus.

I think the meal plan is a win for you. Your youngest child would not be eligible to eat off the plan but he could share a meal. Also, the price for your oldest son makes it reasonable. Unless you have a very picky eater, get the meal plan.

I hope you have a wonderful first time!
