I am traveling in Sept 2009 w/ my family - 9 adults and 1 toddler, incl an 80yr old and a 3yr old. We are staying 4days 3nights at a value hotel. I priced the hotel w/ park hopper pass - does this make the most sense or should we just do regular ticket

    Theresa:

I am not a fan of the park hopper pass, especially when you have youngsters or Seniors in your group.  Here are my thoughts:

    • If you choose not to get the park hopper, your party will save $450.  That could cover someone's plane ticket down or cover a dinner show for the group!  You could even use this to upgrade to a moderate resort with larger rooms, better pool amenities, and great food courts!
    • Toddlers and seniors travel at a slower pace, regardless of whether they need a stroller or wheelchair.  Dragging them from one park to another does not a vacation make--or at least an enjoyable one in my book!
    • Park-hopping takes at least 40 minutes to an hour from one park to the other.  I'd rather use this time to leisurely see just one park and do it well.
    • In your case, simply having a plan for a large group, that designates one park a day, makes the trip more manageable.  When going in a large group, I recommend heading to the same park each day (not necessarily riding every ride together).  This allows for the group to meet up easily and break off into smaller units throughout the day which being in separate parks does not allow for.

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
