We are traveling 2/2-2/9 and purchased the dining plan. I don't want to make reservations at table service restaurants for flexibility. However, after reading a guidebook, concerned that we won't be able to get in. Wondering if I should cancel plan.

Welcome back to the Moms Panel, Robin! Congratulations on your Walt Disney World vacation!  My family does love the Disney Dining Plan, but in all honesty, I cannot imagine utilizing it without Advanced Dining Reservations. I wish I knew which specific plan you have purchased so that I can better advise you. If you do not plan to make any Advanced Dining Reservations and have purchased the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan, I would recommend canceling your Dining Plan. However, if you have purchased the basic Disney Dining Plan, then you may be okay keeping it and planning a few Advanced Dining Reservations around your itinerary. I always plan my itinerary first and then book my Advanced Dining Reservations based on where I will be that day to maximize my time in the parks. I do want to caution you that it can be very, very difficult to find availability for the most popular dining locations without an Advanced Dining Reservation. With that being said, we have had success on a few occasions in finding same day availability. I would strongly suggest making a few Advanced Dining Reservations for your trip keeping in mind that many dining locations can be cancelled less than 24 hours in advance without a penalty. I actually find great comfort in having one Advanced Dining Reservation booked per day with my family of six. We have found that we can be very flexible when using our quick-service meals, but also enjoy one relaxing table-service meal daily. For my family, the basic Disney Dining Plan is the "best of both worlds."  I hope this information helps in making the decision that is best for your family. If you have any additional questions that I can assist you with, please don't hesitate to ask. Best wishes for a Magical trip, Robin!
    Happy Planning,
    Jodie
