I will be traveling with a person in my party who is handicapped. She will need her wheelchair and walker and transferring will be difficult. Which rides will she not have access to? Also, are all the restaurants accessible?

    Hi Andrea,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

My family has found the Services for Guests with Disabilities, especially the guide maps for guests with disabilities, to be quite helpful as we navigate the parks and resorts. Since my husband has mobility challenges, we have used the Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities - the guide has a handy list of attractions that require guests to transfer from a wheelchair or Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV).

Although we have not experienced much difficulty navigating the restaurants, I will say that some of the line queues may be narrow and/or crowded, so when my husband used an ECV, I would normally order our food for us at quick-service restaurants while he secured a table. I do suggest that you pack your patience. While cast members have been phenomenal with helping us in the parks, we sometimes have to wait for a good seating area or work on maneuvering through certain areas. Most of the time, my husband walks, so we have to consider the distances between locations. The My Disney Experience Mobile App has been quite helpful as we searched for the shortest routes.

Andrea, when making dining reservations, I do suggest that you indicate accessibility needs under Special Requests on the reservations. This will alert cast members prior to your visit. If you have more specific questions prior to your visit, feel free to call and speak directly with a member of Disability Services at 407-560-2547 or email at disability.services@disneyparks.com. Of course, we are always here to assist as well!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
    Donyell
