I will be traveling on the 5 night Bahamian cruise in June with my 9 and 10 year children. My husband and I both have passports. What form of identification will the children need to board the ship?

    Welcome aboard, Lori!

This summer is sure to be one for the memory books when your family sets sail with Captain Mickey and his crew! Your kiddos are at perfect ages to soak in all the magic onboard! They'll both adore the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab. Believe me, I still have a hard time getting my son to leave the clubs, he's having so much fun! And while my daughter is a teen now, she still talks about the magical memories she has made in the Club and Lab when she was younger! What a trip you'll have!

Your five night Bahamian sailing with Disney is a round trip cruise from the U.S., so for U.S. citizens on this cruise, passports are not required, though I do recommend them, even for the kids if at all possible. I like having the added security of knowing that in the event of an unexpected emergency in a foreign port of call, we can more easily fly home.

However, please check out the Passports and Travel Documents page of Disney Cruise Line's website for the most up-to-date requirements. You'll see that currently, children that are U.S. citizens, traveling with their parents on your particular itinerary, only need the original or copy of their state-issued (not hospital-issued) birth certificate (and a government-issued I.D. like a driver's license for those 16 and over, but that doesn't apply for your kids).

I hope those details help as you count down the next few months until it's time to head out to sea, Lori! Please stop by again if you have any other questions as you continue to plan. We're happy to help!
