We are traveling next May to Disney and will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside. Our trip includes myself, my husband, my two girls ages 11 & 6 and my brother and his wife. What is the best section to stay in for families and for couples?

    Hello Diana,

I am thrilled to hear that you have chosen my absolute favorite moderate resort at Walt Disney World. The southern charm and relaxing atmosphere provides the perfect setting to come back to after a busy day at the parks. Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is also very conveniently located near the newly re-imagined Disney Springs for great access to shopping and dining.

I would recommend two areas to request for optimum access to the recreation at the resort, as well as to Disney Transportation. Keep in mind that requests cannot be guaranteed and are based on availability upon check-in. In the Magnolia Bend area, I prefer building 85 (Magnolia Terrace). The East Depot for bus transportation is just behind this building and a bridge over to Ol' Man Island (main swimming pool) is just across from it. The Magnolia Bend area is fashioned after the stately antebellum manors of the south with pillared white majestic buildings. Over in Alligator Bayou, the aesthetic is a bit more rustic and themed after the cabins found along the bayous of Louisiana. Building 14 is closest to the main building with Boatwright's Dining Hall (table service dining for dinner) and Riverside Mill (food court). It is also a short walk from the bus transportation depot just outside the front entrance of the main building. Both of the these buildings are close to the marina, where you can get boat transportation to Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter and Disney Springs.

If by chance you reserved a "royal room", these rooms are only located in building 90 and 95. I would request building 90 (Oak Manor) as it is the closest, of the two, to the main building, bus transportation and marina.

Have a magical trip and feel free to stop back by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with more questions as your planning continues.
