We are traveling with our 23 month old in early 2/10 and plan to visit MK, but we have one other day to plan, and we're undecided. We're staying at AK Lodge, so we wonder if AK would be overkill. Should we consider Epcot or HS instead?

    Hi Andrea,

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a great place to stay; it's my 5 year old son's absolute favorite resort.  Be sure to make an Advanced Dining Reservation for Boma or Jiko - The Cooking Place.  Both are absolutely fabulous!  I especially love eating breakfast at Boma.

While the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park both have savannahs filled with animals, one is not a direct substitute for the other.  Animal Kingdom is much more than a zoo or a savannah; it's attractions include high speed thrill rides and beautiful stage shows!

Animal Kingdom theme park is beautiful and probably the best themed in all of Walt Disney World.  However, if I only had one day I would personally prefer to spend it in either Epcot or Disney's Hollywood Studios.  That's especially true in the summer because guests spend most of the time outdoors in the heat when visiting Animal Kingdom compared to the other parks.

Since your child will be too young to remember a lot, I suggest picking what you would like to do on your second day!  Epcot is a fabulous park for adults, especially the World Showcase half of Epcot.  You might want to concentrate there on this trip and save Hollywood Studios, which has a lot of attractions suitable for younger guests, for another trip in the future when your child will appreciate it more.  That said, whether you go to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom, your child will almost certainly have a great time!

Enjoy planning your trip and write back if you have any more questions!
