I will be traveling with our 15 month old daughter. She has a autoimmune disorder, how is the cleanliness of resort rooms? We are looking to stay at the Contemporary resort in 2 weeks. Also what is the best idea of planning out the day? what to expect

    Hi Katie!

I love hearing from parents who want to take their toddlers to Walt Disney World. For my children, their first visits were when they were just infants. There are so many sensory experiences that appeal to young children at Walt Disney World, so you'll be doing a great thing for her.

As for your first question, I have no hesitation in saying that the hotel rooms in Walt Disney World are some of the cleanest you'll find anywhere. I've had the opportunity to stay in top-notch hotels around the world and, without a doubt, I've had the best experience with cleanliness at Walt Disney World. You'll be in good great hands!

As for your second question, my biggest piece of advice would be to take it easy. That's a tall order because there's a lot of excitement in the air at Walt Disney World. Even the most laid-back people want to pack in as much as possible each day.

With my children, we always plan to take a break in the middle of the day to head back to our hotel for a nap. Giving your daughter a chance to recharge her batteries will be crucial to having an enjoyable second-half of the day.

Also, I'd advise that you keep your schedule loose so you can "stop and smell the roses." Some of my most cherished memories from Walt Disney World came from spontaneous experiences we stumbled upon along the way (e.g. parades, impromptu performances, or even simple things like encountering a family of ducks).

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

Take lots of pictures! More specifically, take lots of reaction shots of your daughter. Some of my favorite pictures were from catching my children as they reacted to the environment around them. Those pictures alone made the vacations a worthwhile investment.

I hope that helps! If you have any other questions, please feel free to send them my way!

    Best regards,
    Derek
