We will be traveling to Magic Kingdom next MTH. My son is 3, and sometimes still needs naps. We will be staying with friends offsite, about 1hr away from the park. Are there any areas where we can settle my son for some quiet time or a nap in the park?

    Hi Alexandra:

I've been traveling to Disney World with my boys, 8 and 6, since they were infants.  Although we tend to return to our room for mid-day naps or dips in the pool, I realize that is not an option for you.

I highly recommend bringing or renting a comfortable stroller for your three year old.  While you won't find beds or cots to nap on, there are a number of shady areas in the Magic Kingdom where you can sit while your child naps in the stroller.  My recommendation would be to head to the Rose Garden between Cinderella's Castle and Tomorrowland.  If you want air conditioning, I recommend riding around the monorail while your child naps in the stroller.  The monorail is cool, dry, and can help lull your little one to sleep.  If you don't want to leave the Park, take a long ride on the Railroad that surrounds Magic Kingdom or a ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover.  Other alternatives is to head into certain dark rides, like Carousel of Progress or The Hall of Presidents, where your child can take quick naps.  However, on rides, you'll have to get up after the ride is finished, so for longer naps, consider a shady spot in the park or a ride on the monorail or railroad.

    Enjoy your vacation.
