We will be traveling in a group of 10 in Sept. 2010. We willl be bringing our 2 children ages at that time 5 and almost 2. What would be the best parks to take them to so everyone can have a good time. Other age ranges from 80 to 25. Any advice is great

    David:

I honestly believe that every park has lots to enjoy for every age.  Yes, some, like Magic Kingdom, probably offer more for everyone, but if you have the time, I would encourage you to visit all the parks as they are so vastly different from each other.  (If you are visiting for less than four days, come back to my bio page and let me know, and I'll narrow down your choices.)

The caution I give parents of small children and seniors with mobility issues is to be realistic about your expectations.  Two of the parks, Epcot and Animal Kingdom, are much larger than the other two: Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.  When our family goes with extended family and friends, we split up according to mobility, grouping the small children with the older adults who will visit at a slower pace and then those who want a faster pace.

If your group does not want to split up, I would encourage you to decide in advance how you will traverse the larger parks, from considering strollers to scooters and which attractions to visit.  Keep in mind that it's difficult to get 10 people on the same page!  Create a touring plan, even if it's a loose one, so it won't take you an hour to visit only one attraction.

Next, I encourage you to rest.  Neither small children or older adults can keep a non-stop pace for days at a time.  Make yourself head back to your rooms for a break after lunch and when you head back to the parks later, you will thank yourself.

Lastly, decide on a few memory-makers.  These can be special meals like one a Character meal at Crystal Palace or a dinner show at Hoop-dee-Doo Revue.  You could consider a fireworks cruise just for the family or the new balloon flight at Downtown Disney.  Experience something--or several things--together that will make the trip extra special....And don't forget to take pictures!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
