    Teri from MI Asked

We are traveling with our grandchildren on the Fantasy, April 4th 2020. We are wondering how you handle care seats for the children ages 6, 4, and 2. Thank you for your help.

    Hi there, Teri!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  Yay!  You have a Disney Cruise Line vacation planned and I am so very excited for you and your family.  You will have the best time aboard the Disney Fantasy and make some special memories with your grandchildren during this magical voyage.

Thank you for sailing by with your excellent question about traveling with little ones; I love that you are already planning and thinking ahead!  Traveling with little Mouseketeers always involves more gear, but thankfully Disney Cruise Line makes it very convenient for families with little ones!  If you plan on using Disney Cruise Line ground transportation to get you to Port Canaveral, you will not need car seats on the motor coach.  Instead, you will just want to buckle in the little ones for the approximate one-hour drive to Port Canaveral from Orlando.  If you plan on booking excursions at the ports of call you visit through Port Adventures, you will not need car seats either as the transportation used for those do not accommodate car seats.  We have often used Disney Cruise Line transfers and have always felt comfortable with buckling our boys into the seats or having them on our laps when they were smaller.

Another option to get to Port Canaveral would be to book a private transfer.  Many of the local transportation companies will provide car seats for the transport for a small fee; just make sure that you request that upon making your reservation.  A final option that I can personally recommend is an inflatable booster seat.  We have purchased two of these for our boys and while it is not always ideal or the perfect option, it’s certainly better than nothing and ensures that the seat belt is positioned correctly on them.  We opted for the inflatable ones as opposed to the hard-sided ones for travel because they can easily be deflated and put into our luggage and not take up space in our stateroom since that is always limited!

As you continue planning for your FANTAStic adventure at sea, please come back with any other questions you may have!

    Happy Sailing!
