We are traveling to DisneyWorld with a one year old. Are baby carriers allowed in the parks, and, if so, does anyone have advice as to whether they are convenient or a hindrance? Thank you.

Hello Christine! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Traveling around Walt Disney World Resort with an infant can often be difficult. As large as the Theme Parks can be, you can find yourself walking many miles in a single Disney day.

Like all items brought into the Theme Parks, Security Personnel has the right to prohibit any items a Guest wishes to bring in. However, I have seen many Guests wearing baby carriers into the Theme Parks and recently recommended it as a solid option when enjoying Table Service Dining as strollers are not allowed. As long as it adheres to the maximum size requirements of backpacks, suitcases or coolers (24" long x 15" wide x 18" high) it should be fine for us in the Theme Parks.

I recommend avoiding the large backpack-carriers with the metal supports as they would be larger than the maximum size requirements. The fabric wraps and smaller front carriers are the ones that I frequently have seen in-use at the Theme Parks.

You may also want to look into renting a stroller either at a Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park or through a Disney Featured Provider. While the baby carrier is convenient, you may wish to take a break from carrying your young one all day in a baby carrier.

It is extremely convenient to have your baby in a carrier, but the heat can make both parent and child a little hot and sweaty. Coupled with a stroller, you have the best of both worlds while traversing the magic of Walt Disney World Resort Theme parks.

    Have a Magical Visit!
