We are traveling to Disney World this summer with our daughter (6) and son (5). She will ride anything, but he is a little more hesitant and usually wants to ride a waterside with one of us. At Typhoon Lagoon, can we ride with him on any of the slides?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel John ~

Visiting a water park in the summer is the perfect way to cool off!

I have a special needs son that loves water slides. Unfortunately, he is unable to swim or hold onto the tubes himself so we are always looking for slides that we can go down with him. Due to safety reasons, they will only let one person at a time go down the slides at the water parks at Disney. Some slides offer a 2-person tube but Guests must each sit in their own section of the tube. The exception at Typhoon Lagoon that works best for us is Gang Plank Falls. This slide features a large 4-person inner tube with a solid bottom that you could do with your son.

No worries though - there are lots of fun attractions at Typhoon Lagoon for Guests that are not thrill seekers. Ketchakiddee Creek offers slides for Guests under 4 feet tall. Maybe that will encourage your son to try some of the larger slides. Keep in mind that some attractions have minimum height requirements as well.

One other note, the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool has a pretty strong wave during the wave cycle. If your son is not a strong swimmer, make sure you keep an eye on him when the waves come rushing by you.

Please feel free to visit us with all of your planning questions. We are hEAR for you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
