I am traveling to Disney World this spring and am wondering how to schedule nap time. My daughter is two, and she needs a nap every day. Do does it take long to get back to the resorts from the parks? We are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter.

Hello Jackie! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Whether it is for a much-need nap, a dip in the pool or to just enjoy the Endless Magic of your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, I am a firm believer that the midday break is pivotal to a happy and magical family experience. The temperature is usually more bearable, the queues are usually not as intense then with the midday rush crowds and I find my family is much more pleasant during those times (because of our midday break).

The commute from the Walt Disney World Theme Parks to your resort hotel depends on the distance and timing at the bus depot. Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter (one of my favorite resorts) is relatively close to Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot, and only slightly further away from Disney's Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. The average actual bus ride is between 15-30 minutes (depending on traffic), but depending on how long you wait to board your bus at a depot the "safe" length of time for scheduling is 60 minutes.

In my experience, the average midday bus trip back to our resort by bus has been 30 minutes (ticket gate-to-room).

As an alternative, Walt Disney World Resorts have Baby Care Centers in each of the theme parks. These Baby Care Centers are an excellent spot for your little one to recharge, rest and eat in a quiet environment away from the noise and excitement of the theme parks. They also have many amenities to purchase, such as formula and diapers. There are no areas for naps, however.

When planning your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, more important than "doing everything" at the theme parks is ensuring a happy and healthy state when experiencing the things your family does get to do.

    Have a Magical Vacation!
