hello am traveling to Disney world for the first time with a 4yr old and a 1 yr old, if we are all able to go on the ride except my one yr old because of the height restriction is this where rider swap comes into play?

    Hi Mari,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. You got it exactly right! Disney's Rider Switch Service allows a nice way for all guests in a party who can experience an attraction to do so when there are little ones who do not want to or cannot experience it. Let me explain a bit more of how this works.

Let's say for instance that your 4-year-old is at least 38 inches tall and wants to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Your 1-year-old will not be able to ride due to the height requirement. You can head with your party to the queue and tell the cast member there that you would like to use Rider Switch Service. You and your 4-year-old will go through the regular queue and ride, while another adult from your party waits with the 1-year old. The adult waiting will have received a Rider Switch pass. When you exit the ride, you find the other adult and you take over watching the 1-year old. The other adult can now use the Rider Switch pass to ride without going through the whole queue. As a bonus - if that adult waited alone with the 1-year old, he or she can take another rider with him or her, which means that your 4-year-old could ride two times! Please see the link I provided above for complete details on Disney's Rider Switch Service, as well as a list of attractions that offer this service.

There is a great Disney Parks Blog post about height requirements for Walt Disney World attractions. This may be helpful for you in planning of attractions for which you will use Rider Switch Service.

I hope that this information is helpful for you, Mari! Have a wonderful time planning your magical vacation, and please do let us know if you have any further questions.
